The Nike SB Dunk High Doraemon, produced for the 50th anniversary of the highly influential Japanese Doraemon manga/anime series.
The series is about Doraemon, a futuristic cat who traveled back from the 22nd century to aid a young Japanese boy.
The now 50-year-old cartoon, produced by Japanese writing duo Fujiko F. Fuijo, was named 'Anime Ambassador' by Japan's Foreign Ministry in 2008. The Japanese Foreign Ministry explained this by stating it was done to 'Deepen interest in Japanese culture' as it inspired and was read by young Japanese generations.
Nike collaborated with Fujiko F. Fuijo to create the Nike SB Dunk High Doraemon to celebrate their 50-year-old anniversary, showing Doraemon's overseas success, as intended by the Japanese Foreign Ministry in 2008. The shoe features a 'tumbled' white leather upper with a blue suede mix and red/yellow details, the Doraemon cat's colors.
